Lesson Belief in the Existence of Allah

The existence of Allah is undoubtedly the most apparent reality. That is because all of the creation that we see around us could not come into existence without the existence of the Exalted. In this lesson, you will learn about several pieces of evidence for the existence of Allah the Exalted.

  • Learning the undeniable proofs of the existence of Allah

The meaning of belief in Allah The Almighty

It is the firm belief in the existence of Allah Almighty, and acknowledgment of his lordship, divinity, names and attributes.

Prostration is one of the greatest manifestations of submission to the Creator.

The innateness of Allah:

Acknowledging the existence of Allah Almighty is an innate matter in man that does not need to be inferred. That is why most people acknowledge the existence of Allah regardless of their different religions and sects.

We can feel from the depths of our hearts that He exists. So we turn to Him in adversity and calamities with our believing nature and the instinct of religiosity that Allah installed in the soul of every human being, even if some people try to hide and ignore it.

And we hear and bear witness to the answer of the prayers of those who supplicate. They are given what they asked for. We also see the response of the prayers of those in severe need, all of which are indisputable indications of the existence of Allah.

Proofs for the existence of Allah are too evident and too numerous to encompass. Among the evidences:

It is known to every person that every event (something that exists after being nonexistent) must have an originator. Therefore the many creatures that we see all around us must have a Creator who created them, which is Allah the Exalted. It is impossible for them to be created without a Creator, just as it is impossible that they created themselves, because a thing cannot create itself. As the Almighty said: {Were they created from nothing, or were they the creators} (Al-Tur: 35). The meaning of the verse is that they were not created without a Creator, nor are they the ones who created themselves, so it is necessary that their Creator is Allah, may He be exalted.

The orderliness of this universe with its sky and earth, with its galaxies, stars, and planets, with its oceans, seas, and rivers, with its mountains, plains, and trees, and with all its beautiful creatures, is definitive proof that this universe has one Creator, and that is Allah Almighty: {[It is] the work of Allah, who perfected all things.} (An-Naml: 88).

These planets and stars - for example - are bound by a fixed system that does not fluctuate, and every planet travels in an orbit that it never exceeds. The Almighty says: {It is not allowable [i.e., possible] for the sun to reach the moon, nor does the night overtake the day, but each, in an orbit, is swimming.} (Ya-Sin:40).
