The Noble Quran's Virtues

The Holy Quran has many great virtues, including the following:

1. Virtue in learning and teaching the Qur’an

Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet said: «The best of you are those who learn the Quran and teach it » (Al-Bukhari 5027)

2. The People of the Quran are the People of Allah and Closest to Him

Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet ﷺ said: «Allah has His own people among mankind.» They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, who are they?' He said: «The people of the Quran, the people of Allah and those who are closest to Him». (Ibn Majah 215)

3. Multiplying the reward for reciting a single letter of the Qur’an many times هver

Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever recites a letter from the Book of Allah, he will be credited with a good deed, and a good deed gets a ten-fold reward. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is one letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter." (Tirmidhi 2910)

4. Descending of angels, tranquility, and mercy on the gatherings of Quran recitation and study:

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "There is no gathering of people that assemble in one of the Houses of Allah to recite the Book of Allah, learning and teaching it, except that tranquility will descend upon them, mercy will engulf them, angels will surround them and Allah will make mention of them to those (the angels) in His proximity." (Muslim 2699)

5. Intercession by the Quran for its Companions

Abu Umamah al-Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying, "Read the Qur'an, for it will come as an intercessor for its reciters on the Day of Resurrection." (Muslim 804).

6. The one who is skilled in the Qur’an is with the angels, and the one who stutters in it will have two rewards

'Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported:The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "The one who is proficient in the recitation of the Qur'an will be with the honorable and obedient scribes (angels) and the one who recites the Qur'an and finds it difficult to recite, doing his best to recite it in the best way possible, will have two rewards." (Muslim 798).

7. The Quran raises the rank of its companion

'Umar bin Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet ﷺ said, "Verily, Allah elevates some people with this Qur'an and lowers others through it" (Muslim 817).

8. The memorizer of the Qur’an will rise to the ranks of Paradise as much as he has of the Qur’an

‘Abdallāh b. ‘Amr reported Allah's Messenger ﷺ as saying, “The one who was devoted to the Quran will be told: 'Recite, ascend, and enunciate as you would enunciate in the worldly life for you will reach your abode when you comes to the last verse you recite" (Abu Dawud 1464).

9. The Companion of the Quran will wear a garment and crown of nobility on the Day of Resurrection

Abu Hurairah narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: "The one who memorized the Qur'an shall come on the Day of Judgement and (the reward for reciting the Qur'an) says: 'O Lord! Decorate him." So he is donned with a crown of nobility. Then it says: "O Lord! Give him more!' So he is donned with a garment of nobility. Then it says: "O Lord! Be pleased with him.' So He is pleased with him and says: "Recite and rise up, and be increased in reward with every Ayah.'" (At-Tirmidhi 2915)

10. Allah the Exalted will honor the parents of the Companion of the Quran with great forms of honor.

Sahl bin Mu'adh al-Juhani reported from his father (may Allah be pleased with him) that Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "If anyone recites the Qur'an and acts according to its content, on the Day of Judgement his parents will be given to wear a crown whose light is better than the light of the sun in the dwellings of this world if it were among you. So what do you think of him who acts according to this?" (Abu Dawud 1453)

11. Memorizing and learning the Quran is better than this world and all that is within it.

'Uqba bin 'Amir reported: When we were in Suffa, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out and said: «Which of you would like to go out every morning to Buthan or al-'Aqiq and bring two large she-camels without being guilty of sin or without severing the ties of kinship?» We said: Messenger of Allah, we would like to do it. Upon this he said: «Does not one of you go out in the morning to the mosque and teach or recite two verses from the Book of Allah, the Majestic and Glorious? That is better for him than two she-camels, and three verses are better (than three she-camels). and four verses are better for him than four (she-camels), and to on their number in camels.» (Muslim 803)
